Istanbul – Day 02

Today we are all waking up with a smile on our faces. We’re on our world trip!!!
First step of the day, breakfast. We find a local bakery one block away from home. Then we head to the park so that Côme can play and make some friends and we go to the Grand Bazar. We stop on the way to eat a really good lent soup and we’re off. There are people everywhere but the bazar is closed.

So we just stroll around. We enter our first mosque (where we have to explain Côme that the carpets are not made for somersaults), we discover oriental bookshops, Côme feed the pigeons, pat the cats and we return home to rest for a while. In the late afternoon, we’re out again for a stroll, another park. We take our time, enjoy ourselves, and realize we are super lucky. We end this day with Turkish pizzas that we eat on our beds, we play games of dices and cards…

Today, Côme:
Did not understand: the game the kids were playing in the park.
Learnt: a bit of English (the colors).
Enjoyed: climbing on the slide.

Julia:
Did not understand: the marketing strategy of the cotton candy vendor who never smiled to the kids.
Learnt: the number of times people are called to pray every day.
Enjoyed: taking her time.

Doo:
Did not understand: why there was no pedestrian sea access to the southern part of the peninsula (it’s a highway).
Learnt: how to say hello (maraba) and thanks (tesekur eredim).
Enjoyed: the bookstore neighborhood.
