Day 06 –

Today we’re going to the Metropolitan Government Building. It is a building from where you can have a superb panoramic view of the city. Yet again, Côme is impressed that residential neighborhoods are right next to skyscrapers. Once at the top, Doo desperately tries to see Mount Fuji. When the sky is clear, it is possible. But despite the good weather, Mount Fuji still eludes his sights. In 2015, he had even taken a 3h bus ride to be able to see it, but it was cloudy and Mont Fuji stayed hidden. Oh well… it will be for another time… again…

Mount Fuji is right there. Can’t you see it?

From the top of the tower however, we can see a playground in the park next to the building. Alright ! The weather is nice and we know that it’s not always easy for Côme to find much interest in sightseeing even though we try as much as possible to find places and activities he can enjoy. So where we’re going to spend the next few hours there, at the playground. We even take bentos (Japanese meal trays) to eat on the spot.

Today is the weekend, so there are a lot of families around. There is even a line to take turn on the swings. We are very much impressed. No one is cutting the line and the parents and children don’t abuse of their time on the swings (it’s about 2 minutes top). So, like everybody else, we wait in line and when it’s our turn to leave the swing to another kid, Côme doesn’t even ask to stay longer (like he usually does), he has accepted that’s how things “worked” here. It really makes you think about the way it could be done back home… Anyway, Côme’s favorite game today is going down a slide that is the widest slide he’s ever slid on. He even makes a new friend there. We are all having a great time. Us chatting with the kid’s parents and Côme blossoming with another child.

After these few hours at the playground, we head to one of the largest parks in Tokyo. There’s a huge temple and offerings being prepared for a national holiday (3 days from today). At nightfall, we return to Harajuku so that Julia can drink a Matcha tea and have a Matcha tiramisu. She’s been waiting for days. The verdict: it was good, but she took it too late in the evening… She won’t be able to sleep until 2am.

Day 07 –

Today was our first day “off” since the beginning of our adventure! We stayed home all day. Doing nothing, or barely. Writing the stories from Korea, watching cartoons, eating sweets from the local bakery… It felt good!!!

Day 08 –

Today is our last day in Tokyo. We start the day eating the breakfast with our chopsticks. Eating cereals with chopsticks? Check! 😊 For our last day in Tokyo, we decide to go back to the neighborhoods we liked and walk around taking our time. Of course, in the evening, we’re having our traditional video game session and we return to Shinjuku. Côme wants to see Godzilla again…
